Ryan's Rainbow Outreach

Ryan's Rainbow Outreach

Ken Ryan, known affectionately as the "King of Kensington" in his North Burnaby neighborhood began a small community outreach program some years ago which operated out of Cliff Avenue United Church.

Ken was unfailingly generous of his time and served his community until his unfortunate passing this year. His last wish was that his work continue, and asked family friends, David Toner and Sandra Martins-Toner to carry on his legacy.

With the support of the church board, Teresa Rasquinha and Shirley Hatch, the Ryan's Rainbow foundation was created to work alongside the pre-existing Friday morning Cob's Bread Outreach Ministry, led by Lynn Field.

Collecting food and cash donations weekly, the group assists the most vulnerable in the community to make ends meet on an ongoing basis, and organizes Christmas hampers for families during the holiday season. Annual tax-receipts are issued through the Cliff Ave Church office for all cash donations exceeding $20.
